Our Volunteers Make a Difference

Union Twp. Branch

The volunteers at the Union Township Branch Library are a saving grace to us. We have adults and teens who come weekly to help us shelve materials, prepare crafts for programs, and process materials for book fairs. Others help us during specific times of the year with special projects such as data entry for Summer Reading, staffing our Kids Craft Corner table, or assisting with fund-raising activities.

Monies earned from our used book fairs and donation selves have been used for a variety of things. This year donations have funded our summer reading program, several performance programs for children and families, purchased new materials for our patrons to check out, and purchased a laminator to aid staff with signage and storytime enhancement resources.

Our volunteers range from retired teachers and librarians to teens looking for something to do during the summer. “I enjoy helping staff and patrons through my work,” says Union Township volunteer, Jane Rosenfeld. “We certainly couldn’t accomplish all our work tasks or provide all of our current services without our volunteers,” says Branch Manager Beth Lammrish. “Without them we’d be buried under a pile of books, paperwork and uncut craft felt! “
