Amelia Library operating as usual as the village is being dissolved
Since the November 5 election when the residents of Amelia voted to dissolve the village, the Library staff has received several questions about how the branch could be impacted. Several comments and questions also have been posted to social media pages.
First, the Amelia Branch Library is not moving or closing. The hours are the same and our programs and services are continuing as usual.
Second, the Board of Trustees discussed the status of the village and the possibility of changing the Library name to reflect the community where it will be located, which is Pierce Township. No action was taken during the Board’s regular meeting November 18. The Board members agreed to gather additional information and discuss this topic at a later date.
At this time, no agenda for the Board’s next meeting has been set. That meeting is at 6 p.m. Monday, December 16, at the Union Township Branch, 4450 Glen Este-Withamsville Road. Once the agenda is ready, it will be posted to the Library’s website: clermontlibrary.org > About > Board of Trustees.
The Library director anticipates the board will table the issue until the legal process of the village dissolving is settled.
Dissolving a village is a legal process that involves village, township and state officials. The Library is not involved in that process.
If the Library does receive word about any changes that must be made as a result of this issue, the administration will post that information to social media, in the local newspapers and on our website, clermontlibrary.org. One example may be a change of address as assigned by the U.S. Postal Service.
