Congratulations to the winners of the 2023 Short Story Contest hosted by the Clermont County Public Library. We received 31 adult entries and 32 teen entries this year. We truly appreciate you sharing your stories!

Short Story Contest Winners 2023

The first, second and third place winners in both categories have been selected.

Adult Winners

  • First Place: “The Stereo” by Hannah Feltz
  • Second Place: “ACD” by Martin L. Clock
  • Third Place: “The Ski Lift” by Jill M. Broyles

Youth Winners

  • First Place: “Roses on the River” by Cara Reeder
  • Second Place: “Eternity’s End” by Ingrid Erickson
  • Third Place: “Meaning of a Rabbit from an Outside Perspective” by Trent Jerolamon

The manuscripts were judged in a blind format where the judges of both categories did not know the names of the authors and each work was evaluated independently. The highest scoring entries from the contest were passed along to an outside judge who read the entries without knowing the authors and then chose the winners for both categories.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you,” Maya Angelou once said. Thank you to all who entered our contest and shared your own. There were many excellent entries this year including those that did not place.
