BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Present: Jennifer Doss, Tony Cardinal, Mary Jo Waite, Judith Kocica, Ed Humphrey, Ernie Ramos

Ms. Doss called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.

Absent: Tricia Lyons
All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Humphrey entered at 6:04.
JULY 17, 2023 MINUTES:
Motion by Mr. Cardinal, seconded by Mr. Humphrey, to approve the July 17, 2023, Board Meeting minutes as corrected. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.
JULY 24, 2023 SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES:
Motion by Ms. Kocica, seconded by Mr. Humphrey, to approve the July 24, 2023, Special Board Meeting minutes, as mailed. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:
None.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
Motion by Ms. Kocica, seconded by Mr. Cardinal, to enter into Executive Session for ORC Section 121.22(G)(1) to consider the employment, appointment, and compensation of a public employee or official. Roll call vote: Ms. Doss, yes; Mr. Cardinal, yes; Ms. Waite, yes; Ms. Kocica, yes; Mr. Humphrey, yes; Mr. Ramos, yes. All present were in favor, none opposed. The motion was adopted.
Board members entered executive session at 6:06 pm.
Board members returned from executive session at 6:19 pm.
GETTING TO KNOW THE LIBRARY:
Felicity Branch presentation by Ms. Richey.
REDTREE INVESTMENT GROUP PRESENTATION:
Mr. Violand gave a year-to-date update on the library’s investments.
FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT:
Ms. Smithey submitted and discussed the July 2023 Financial Report.
Motion by Mr. Humphrey, seconded by Mr. Cardinal, to approve the July 2023 Financial Report. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.
Motion by Ms. Waite, seconded by Mr. Ramos, to approve July 2023 Bills paid. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.
Motion by Ms. Kocica, seconded by Mr. Humphrey, to approve July 2023 Bills paid – Anthem. All present were in favor, none opposed. Ms. Doss abstained. Motion was adopted.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Ms. Wick reported more than 62% of the eligible children in Clermont County are now enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Clermont County, Ohio (DPILCCO). As of August 21, there are 7,311 children enrolled.
Ms. Wick reviewed the presence of the library at recent community events such as the booth at the Clermont County Fair and several National Night Out events.
Ms. Wick announced the upcoming permanent closure of the north side of Glen Este-Withamsville Road due to the construction along the Route 32 corridor in Union Township.
Ms. Wick stated September is Library Card Sign-up Month and in October the library will launch the Hallow-Read Reading Challenge.
Ms. Wick announced the Bethel Branch renovation has been delayed and it will now close at the end of December through January, 2024.
NEW BUSINESS:
Motion by Ms. Kocica, seconded by Mr. Humphrey, to approve Resolution 2023-22: Acceptance of Gifts to the Library, donations as listed. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.
Motion by Ms. Waite, seconded by Mr. Cardinal, to approve Resolution 2023-23: Disposal of Unneeded or Obsolete Library Inventory. Roll call: Ms. Doss, yes; Mr. Cardinal, yes; Ms. Waite, yes; Ms. Kocica, yes; Mr. Humphrey, yes; Mr. Ramos, yes. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.
Motion by Mr. Cardinal, seconded by Mr. Humphrey, to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.
