DIRECTOR’S REPORT

Ms. Wick reported that 49.1% of the eligible children in Clermont County are now enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Clermont County Ohio. She also attended a meeting of Delta Chi Society of Clermont County, Ohio, a group of retired teachers who reported they raised almost $750 to donate to the Imagination Library initiative here in the county.

Ms. Wick reported the Williamsburg Branch will be closed October 20 while the parking lot is repaved. The Union Township Branch will be closed for about two weeks starting October 28 while repairs are made to the concrete floor.

Ms. Wick passed out stickers created by CED that were sent to branches. The stickers will be passed out during storytimes before Halloween. The stickers are Halloween themed and say Boooooooks! @ClermontLibrary.

Mr. Cardinal mentioned the door counts are up slightly over the same time period in 2021 and he hopes the good outreach by staff members will improve those counts even more.

Ms. Wick said circulation is about the same as last year in the same time period.

Mr. Ramos asked if the road construction in Union Township will impact that branch. Ms. Wick said she and Ms. Gray met with property assessor and the branch will lose a small strip of land but she has no information about if the construction will cause the branch to close for a time while work is completed.

Mr. Ramos also commended branch staff members for their outreach efforts. Ms. Wick agreed and said the CED Programming Team has two new members and they will also be doing a lot of outreach.

NEW BUSINESSS

Ms. Wick said she received information from the Goshen Local School District about the possibility of creating a walking trail between Goshen High School to the Goshen Branch Library. The Goshen School Board and township officials would like to study this possibility and asked the Library Board if they would agree to exploring project. Since this is in the very early stages, no other information was available.

Motion by Mr. Humphrey, seconded by Mr. Ramos, to approve the exploration of a trail between Goshen High School to the Goshen Branch Library. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.

Motion by Ms. Kocica, seconded by Ms. Doss, to approve Resolution 2022-31: Acceptance of Gifts to the Library. Donations as listed. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.

Mr. Humphrey asked if the tabled minutes of September 2022 could be approved since a quorum of members was present, even though it was not a quorum of members present at the September meeting. Board members agreed to delay the vote on the September 2022 minutes to check the rules of meeting order.

Motion by Ms. Doss, seconded by Ms. Kocica, to adjourn the meeting at 6:49 p.m. All present were in favor, none opposed. Motion was adopted.
